LOVING | BEAUTY FAVOURITES

The month of May has almost come to an end thus I gathered it would be somewhat pointless publishing an April Favourites post. This post therefore, features products I have loved throughout May. Let’s get into it!

Estèe Lauder Stay-in Place Makeup (Double Wear Foundation), R450 at Red Square

I simply adore this foundation. It has to be one of the very best I have tried to date (and I have tried plenty!) In the shade Amber Honey, the Estèe Lauder Double Wear Foundation gives me the best coverage. Using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, I buff the product into my skin in controlled circular motions making sure it doesn’t streak. I apply two light layers and this is enough to last me throughout the day which brings me to my second point- this foundation doesn’t move, hence its name “Stay-in Place”. I recently travelled from Cape Town to Johannesburg (same day return- I know) meaning I was up at 4am. With a full face of makeup done by 05:00, I hopped on a plane and landed in JHB some 2 hours later. With an event that started as we touched down, I surmised I wouldn’t have time to touch-up. Well, I didn’t need to. When visiting the bathroom, my foundation hadn’t moved an inch. Right until I hopped on my return flight at 19:30 later that day. Another point I’d like to make about this foundation is that the product doesn’t transfer onto clothes. I am notorious for touching my face and touching whatever it is I’m wearing (especially when I’m dressed in white for some reason). I like the fact that when I hold up my phone to receive a call, makeup isn’t transferred onto my skin meaning little dirt build-up for me. Estèe Lauder Double Wear is a lust-have AND a must-have! I recommend it to ALL!

Michelle Ori Super Long Wear Eyeliner, R70 at Dis-Chem Pharmacies

I haven’t worn eyeliners much in recent years. I tend to gravitate towards gel liners or liquid liners. I particularly love this eyeliner because it’s the blackest of black and the applicator sponge on the opposite end allows me to expertly create a sultry smoked out look. Super affordable and worth the buy!

Maybelline NY Baby Lips Dr. Rescue, R35 at Dis-Chem/Clicks

I’ll begin by saying I am a sucker for cute packaging. I adore the look of these pretty balms and what’s more is they actually work. Lately, my lips have been dry and unsmooth. I decided to give the Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue balms a try.  I have used Baby Lips in the past but it wasn’t part of the Dr Rescue collection. A few seconds post application I begin to feel the balm work. I get a tingly, cooling sensation and throughout the day my lips remain feeling moisturised. This shade is Pink Me Up and I love the fact that it lightly tints my lips leaving me not feeling obligated to add on lipstick of a gloss.

MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara, R230 at MAC Cosmetics

This is one of the three mascara’s I use everyday. I love what it does for my lashes. It goes without saying that I love mine extra thick, long and dramatic. After coating my lashes in my MAC Prep and Prime Lash, which already serves to separate and extend, I use I.E.D to pack on blacker than black drama. MAC mascara’s won’t break the bank and this I love!

Real Techniques Powder Brush, R199 at Foschini

You can call me a diehard fan of Real Techniques. These are the only face brushes I use and soon I will delve into exploring others but for now I’m pretty content. While I already had the RT Core Collection, I just had to get my hands on the giant Powder Brush.

This is ideal for lightly mattifying your face with whichever face powder is your favourite. I gently dust on my powder using the Real Techniques Powder Brush on the areas that tend to get shiniest first. This would be around my nose and along my T-Zone. These brushes are unbelievably affordable and I am super enthused about the fact that they didn’t make it to South Africa at an insane mark-up. I’m sure their rate of selling out has decreased somewhat so make a plan to get yours!

Which products have you been obsessed with this May?
