I love summer! It's the perfect time to experiment with colour not just in our wardrobe but with makeup too. And while I'm a nudes and dusty mauves kind of girl, I can't help but admit that there are glitters and neons I have reaching for a lot lately.
All That Glitters Is Gold
I couldn't agree with this sentiment more. I am obsessed with golds and rose golds so it's only fitting that I got my hands on the Inglot AMC Pure Pigment Eye Shadow (R239). In fact, I have had my eye on this pigment for a while but what prevented me from actually purchasing was the belief that I could only wear it on a night out - which are very rare. It wasn't until two weeks ago that I decided to take the plunge and purchase it anyway. And guess what? I wore this during the day to work for an entire week. I found that adding a winged liner made it more dramatic than it needed to be for a day time look. Instead I simply packed it on and doubled my usual dose of mascara and paired it with a bright lip - MAC All Fired Up (R210). The look was just the right amount of glam yet light, flirtatious and summery.
Talk To The Hand
I also made a major adjustment with my nails. Instead of reaching for my signature Essie in Lady Like, I have opted for coral and purple neons. More specifically the Inglot Nail Enamel in 947 (R139) the Inglot O2M Breatheable Nail Enamel in 684 (R199). Not really in-your-face quirky names but the colours are amazing. You'll love the breathable nail enamel because its formula allows water and O2 to pass through meaning your nails will always be in the best condition.
Azalea No Iggy
A couple of years ago I fell in love with MAC's Candy Yum Yum. While it's still a neon pink favourite I believe it has now met its match. The new Estèe Lauder Pure Colour Envy Matt Sculpting Lipsticks (R345) are to die for and Neon Azalea is well worth it! It is super pigmented and opaque meaning the colour payoff is amazing without having to retrace lips over and over. No matter your skin tone, however, I would suggest lining your lips with a similarly coloured but slightly darker lip pencil. Try the MAC Lip Liner in Magenta (R190).
Lip and Cheeky
Despite the fact that no one shouldn't do without a great multi-tasking product, the MAC Spring/Summer 2015 Lip and Cheek Palette (R450*) is one to have. All colours are creamy in texture and vibrant in colour. The nudes are stunning even on women of colour. I would simply suggest that you invest in a flattering brown lip pencil. Bang On Red and One To Watch (bottom two) are super pigmented and great pops of colour for summer also doubling up as pretty blushes.
