It's been a crazy year! 2016 is finally here but I couldn't go ahead with planned posts without telling you about the beauty products I couldn't get enough of in 2015. From left to right then down the center, I'm going to begin with my favourite eyeshadow palettes.
1. MAC Warm Neutrals Palette - R1200
This was a purchase I mulled over for a good three months and its price tag was a reason for that. I had never purchased MAC eye shadows before because quite honestly I only explored with this area of makeup in 2015. Needless to say I took a leap in the deep-end and I couldn't be more thrilled. It's versatile palette and can be used to create daytime and nighttime looks. This is the plus side with palettes, you can purchase one and use it for almost anything!
2. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette - International Purchase
I was addicted to this palette throughout the year. My biggest fear was hitting pan and not being able to purchase sharing. It was by pure luck I managed to get my hands on it! I get a lot of questions about how I purchase my international products - this one I ordered from Sephora Canada and had it to delivered to my parents hotel during their stay. Once again the shades are super pigmented and versatile so you can create many different looks. It also doesn't hurt that the eyeshadow is made of cocoa powder so you will welcome any extra fall-out ;)
3. BeautyFix Makeup Radiant Mist - R299
I tested this out for the first time at my place of work - Beauty Bulletin - and instantly fell in love. I got my hands on one of my own and I use it religiously. It allows for makeup to blend together beautifully and also has a hydrating and cooling factor which is super ideal for the heat wave that's making its way around the country.
3. Bioderma Micellar Cleansing Water - R200
2015 was also the year I became a big fan of micellar waters. When Garnier brought theirs down I of course went and purchased both but broke out in pesky pimples. I decided to then try my hand at Bioderma's version and I absolutely loved it. I use this every night after using my facial cleansing towelettes for an extra powerful cleanse.
4. Estèe Lauder Sumptous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara - R345
I was sent a beautiful selection of Estèe Lauder products to review but because I have an overwhelming weakness for mascaras I couldn't wait to give this one a try. I have never been impressed with a mascara as much as I have with this one. It does an incredible job at volumizing and thickening lashes. Note that mine barely exist so this was a treat! 5. Estèe Lauder Little Black Primer - R315
An eyelash primer that's not white? Well why wasn't this invented ages ago? It only makes sense and so I use this everyday before applying multiple coats of my Estèe Lauder Sumptous Extreme Mascara.
It's truly a revelation and a must-try if short lashes are your nemesis. Also, you can use this baby alone incase you only wish to tint your lashes as opposed to layering with your blackest mascara. Buy it here - click
6. Benefit They're Real Mascara - R295
This one received a lot of attention internationally so when Benefit Cosmetics finally made its way back to South Africa the beauty industry was more than thrilled. It's brilliant at lengthening lashes and makes for a powerful daytime mascara without excessively clumping.
7. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - R360
My readers know I love Estèe Lauder Double Wear. In fact, many of you have purchased your very own bottle because I always go on and on about it. Well this year I decided to give another foundation a try just as a more affordable option. I have to say that I was super pleased with MAC's Studio Fix Fluid. I'm in the shade NC50 and the coverage and longevity was an absolute delight. While I reserve my Double Wear for nights out, I have loved using Studio Fix Fluid for everyday wear. If you're looking for a foundation that will offer great coverage and Estée Lauder is out of your price range, give this one a try.
8. Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate*
This year I fell in love with face oils. A perk of working at Beauty Bulletin is receiving new products to try so I was super pleased when this new addition to. Kiehl's landed on my desk. If you love the Midnight Recovery Concentrate you will love this. I use this after cleansing and toning every morning and apply sunblock afterwards.
9. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate*
I have loved using this nightly. It was a sweet addition to my evening skincare routine and it does wonders to help skin recover after harmful exposure to the sun and other elements. Once again after cleansing and toning this is what I reach for, skipping moisturizer and allowing this to work into my skin.
10. Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Towelettes - R89
This remains at my bedside always! It is my ultimate cheat sheet to cleansing I go through two of these every month. They are super effective at removing not only excess makeup but almost every trace. They also don't irritate the eyes and don't leave skin feeling excessively dry. These are a must-try for anyone seeking a shortcut to removing makeup effectively.
11. Giorgio Armani Si EDP
I raved about this fragrance in a previous post so I won't delve into too much detail. In summary it's a scent I just simply can't get enough of and may just become my new summertime signature fragrance.
12. The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer - R150
This was a popular one with bloggers and I speak more about it in my The Body Shop Haul post. It leaves my skin feeling super plump, hydrated and "glowy". I in fact reach for it every morning and evening.
13. Eucerin SPF50 Dry Touch Face Sun-Gel-Cream
My obsession with sun protection somewhat tripled this year - that's a good thing. After trying my hand at multiple (useless) sun protection creams this one stood out the most for me. If you're a person of colour this sun cream won't leave you looking grey and ashy. Ask the Eucerin experts on why - it's scientific but amazing! Plus it's super suitable for oily and acne prone skins and offers protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Shop this one at Dis-Chem - it's a must-have!
Are there any products you discovered and subsequently turned obsessed with this year? Let me know in the comments!
