I've mentioned before how I have normal to dry skin. While it's not as severe as the peeling and flaking one would imagine, it still does require a bit of TLC. For this, I believe in the effects of a good, nutrient-rich mask and I recently fell in love with this one from Kiehl's.
The benefits of algae in skincare range from their ability to act as thickening agents, water-binding agents as well as antioxidants. What does this mean for you? Moisturization!
The shape of algae allows for it to effectively trap moisture, and unlike your beauty products formulated with petroleum and silicone, this trapped moisture in the Algae means that skin is hydrated and cool without resulting in clogged pores. The presence of chamomile, green tea and calendula soothe the skin.
A recurring option in my choice of multi-masking products, I rely on it to replenish my skins moisture. I apply a liberal amount to my cheek area, around my mouth and around my nose as these are places that tend to become dry very quickly. After letting it penetrate my skin for about 7 - 10 minutes, I gently rinse with lukewarm water and proceed with the next step in my routine.
Coupled with my favourite nighttime serum - Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate - the result is skin that looks and feels well nourished and moisturised.
